Jerry Sampson, self-taught painter and art enthusiast, finds solace and inspiration in the vastness of our universe. He recalls a cherished childhood photograph—young Jerry standing in an open field, serenely gazing at the camera amidst the boundless sky of the Great Plains. This profound experience of contentment as a small speck in a boundless world has become the essence of Jerry's artistic expression.

For over three decades, Jerry painted as a weekend hobbyist pouring his creativity into work as a caregiver. However, Jerry recently made the life-changing decision to fully embrace his identity as an artist.

The early influences of iconic artists such as Andy Warhol, Mark Rothko, Helen Frankenthaler, Hans Hofmann, and Gerhardt Richter shaped Jerry's artistic sensibilities, particularly his love of color and abstraction.

More recently, he discovered the captivating works of Yomar Augusto, Lucie Svboda, and David Pher, whose sumptuous palettes have left an impact on his art.

Jerry's journey has seen moments of recognition and accomplishment. His artwork has been featured in SandScript Magazine and Hayden's Ferry Review, and collectors have shown appreciation for his paintings. Earlier in his painting career, he showcased his works in a few small gallery shows.

Now fully committed to his art, Jerry is excited about the future. Having developed a cohesive body of work, he looks forward to further creative fulfillment as an artist. With each brushstroke, he strives to recapture the serenity of that childhood moment, sharing his profound connection with the vastness of the universe through his paintings.
